Aramsa Spa

Tucked away in one part of Bishan Park II, is a hidden secret called Green Room Cafe. Part of the Aramsa Spa, the cafe serves organic food in a very cosy environment, surrounded by the flora and fauna of the park.

We ordered the buckwheat pancake and the scrambled eggs and bread stick sets, which came with a fragrant cup of coffee (with soya milk instead of fresh milk). While the portion was rather small, with respect to the price, its was the dining experience which made the meal worthwhile. Listening to the soft jazzy tunes in a green environment, you couldn't help but feel relaxed.

After a long week at work, shouldn't you be treating yourself to a nice brunch on a weekend? Check it out if you can.

Min Jiang @ Rochester

Min Jiang @ Rochester

This time the occasion was my father's birthday. And being his 60th one, we decided to celebrate it on a grander scale. So the whole family dined al fresco at Min Jiang, in Rochester Park, an idyllic hideaway near Buona Vista MRT. As the sun sets, the chef presented the famous Peking Duck, roasted to perfection. The skin on the neck was served first, before the rest was wrapped in skin with garlic and spring onion. Dip the neck skin in sugar before trying... its guaranteed to make you go "wow. On the menu was also shark fin in rich creamy soup, sea cucumber with spinach, crispy chicken, and noodles, complete with glutinous rice with vanilla ice cream as the dessert. Simply a great meal!

As the family gathered round the tables, chatting in the glow of the dim table lamps, it was a jovial occasion. Will definitely come back and try the other dishes in the future.

Chill Out @ Archipelago Bar

After a great work out at the gym, it was time to chill out! And we went to this bar that I wanted to try since I read about it in the papers. Archipelago Bar, situated at the corner of a row of shop houses in Circular Road. A small place to boot, but certainly with lots of character. Appreciating the old lanterns decorating the walls, we settled ourselves onto a small table at the back of the bar, and ordered the Traders Ale and the Travellers Wheat. The former was a strong ale "that is creamy, smooth, and completely enjoyable", so to quote from the bar's website; whereas the latter was more fruity and smooth, and "is truly enjoyable, refreshing, and very easy to drink".

Swaying to the tune of the music, and watching other patrons having fun drinking "flaming lamborghini", we felt totally relaxed. It's somewhat different from other fave drinking spots of ours e.g. Brewerkz and Wine Garage; and it was an enjoyable experience. With the extremely good service provided, we'll definitely be back for more great tasting ales.
